Cornwall Council has welcomed today’s announcement from the Department for Communities and Local Government that an additional 15 coastal community teams in Cornwall have been awarded £10,000 each to support regeneration projects in their area. This is in addition to funding awarded to Penzance which was announced as a one of the pilot areas earlier this year.

The funding will support the work being undertaken by stakeholders including Cornwall Council, town councils, businesses and residents, and is testament to the collaborative work being undertaken by local communities to improve the towns and add to the economic regeneration for the wider areas.

Julian German, Cornwall Council cabinet member for economy and culture said: “Coastal communities are an essential element of our local economy and there is a strong community resolve in them as everyone works together to improve their area. I am delighted their efforts have been recognised in this manner”

The 15 towns will also be eligible to bid for up to a £50,000 share of a £3m Coastal Revival Fund which provides assistance to coastal community efforts to improve their local economy.
