A study by the Environment Agency and YouGov found that young people between 18 and 24 are most vulnerable to the effects of flooding, either due to their location or lack of awareness.
Due to high flood risk in Devon, Cornwall and Isles of Scilly, as well as over 50 communities being at High risk of flash flooding, the survey will no doubt be central to reducing flood risk in these areas. Torquay Herald Express develops on this :
“As well as building new defences, the agency has an extensive maintenance programme to manage flood risk to homes and businesses on main river and the coast across Devon and Cornwall. This includes repairs to defences currently being undertaken in Penryn to ensure the existing flood scheme continues to reduce flood risk to the community into the future.”
